REGULATION

The present regulations may be corrected, modified or improved at any time by the Organisation, as well as any other data, rule or section for the optimum running of the race. The fact of registering shows the participant’s conformity with these regulations.

These regulations will be strictly enforced for all participants of the event called COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO. Any incident not included in the same, will be resolved by the Jury of the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO, the Sports Director of the event, a Member of the Organization and a Representative of the Runners.

Art.1 ORGANISATION

The COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO race is organised by TerraIncognita Global SL.

Art.2 TEST

The COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO is a cyclosportive event as defined by the DGT in the Instruction 18/TV-101, Annex III.2.

The COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO has two distances of 126km – 3400m+-.

The COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO will be held on Saturday 18th October 2025 from 08:00 hours. The start and finish line will take place in the town of Estepona.

Art.3 SPORTS BEHAVIOUR AND RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO is held with absolute respect for the environment.

Participants must respect the environment in which the event takes place and keep the surroundings clean. To this end, they must eat and drink WITHOUT LEAVING ANY CONTAINERS OUTSIDE THE CONTAINERS provided for this purpose.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS POINT SHALL REQUIRE THE IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION OF THE RUNNER, who may be disqualified by a simple statement from any member of the organising team of the Race.

Participants will be disqualified from the competition if they show violent behaviour or litter in nature. It is compulsory to respect crops, livestock and private property in general.

Participants are responsible for any damage caused as a result of this type of behaviour.

It is strictly forbidden to receive external assistance or refreshments during the race outside the points provided by the Organisation: these will coincide with the official refreshment points of the race.

Art.4 PARTICIPATION AND REGISTRATION

Participation will be open to all those who correctly formalise both the REGISTRATION and the payment stipulated for the races.

The registration fee for the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO will be governed by the payment terms established on the registration page.

The registration to the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO implies the acceptance of the rules and the adequate preparation of the participant for the race, being aware of the geographical and meteorological conditions that can be found in the environment where the event takes place. In this sense, the participant exempts the Organization of possible health problems that may arise from their participation in the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO.

The runners registered for the race understand that they participate voluntarily and under their own responsibility in the event, and therefore, exonerate the Organisation of the race from all responsibility, and agree not to denounce the organising entity, collaborators, sponsors and other participants; nor to initiate any civil liability claim against the aforementioned parties.

Art. 5 RETURN OF REGISTRATION

Once the registration has been formalised, the refund will be 50% of the amount paid up to 30 days before the event, after this date no refund will be processed without cancellation insurance.

With cancellation insurance, applications will only be accepted up to 15 days before the date of the event.

All refunds shall be made within 30 days from the date of acceptance of the application.

Once the application for withdrawal has been made, the place becomes available to the Organisation, which will give it to the candidate at the top of the waiting list at that time.

Art.6 DORSALS

Bib numbers will be collected at the Caseta Municipal Estepona on Friday 11:00h to 14:00h and 17:00 to 20:30h and on Saturday 6:30h to 7:30h before the start.

The participant will be obliged to wear the bib number during the entire race, always on the front of the bicycle, in a completely visible manner.

Each bib is personal and non-transferable.

Each participant will be assigned a bib number which will be determined randomly in all cases, except for the first numbers which will be determined by the Organisation.

All registered runners will be assigned a bib number with a different colour depending on the modality registered.

Once the event is over, the race bibs and runner’s bag will not be sent to the runner’s home under any circumstances.

Art.7 MANDATORY TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT

All runners in the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO, without exception, must ensure that they wear an approved cycling helmet.

In addition, the organisers recommend that runners carry the following equipment to be able to complete the race:

  • Watertight drums and/or bags for liquids: With a minimum total capacity of 1L.
  • Specific sunglasses and gloves.
  • Sunscreen: Total protection.
  • Electrolytes and/or mineral salts.
  • Food reserve: bars, gels, fruit…
  • Mechanical spare parts for punctures.
  • Carry cash and/or a credit card for any eventualities that may arise.
  • Use of GPS device to follow the route.

Art.8 CONTROL POINTS, AVITUALLY AND ASSISTANCE

The route of the race will be signposted with signs and specific signage created for the event. The race route will be published on the official website of the race. Any change or modification will be made public by the same means.

Each participant must follow the entire marked route, without skipping the signs and passing through all the checkpoints.

In addition to the fixed controls indicated on the official website, the Organisation may place ‘surprise’ controls for passing or material at any point along the route.

Each participant is obliged to respond to the requests and questions of any commissaire, doctor, nurse or refreshment station manager, whether at stipulated checkpoints or at any other point along the route.

It is strictly forbidden to receive external assistance or refreshments during the race outside the points provided by the Organisation: these will coincide with the official refreshment points of the race. Likewise, it is forbidden to be accompanied by other people who are not registered participants in the race.

At each refreshment point there will be a specific closing time, and it is essential to pass before the established closing time in order to be able to continue in the race.

Each refreshment post will have food and beverages that will vary depending on the kilometre where it is located. The food and drinks must be consumed at the refreshment post itself in sufficient quantity to guarantee sufficient energy reserves to be able to reach the next refreshment post, except for water, which can also be taken from the tanks and reservoirs carried by the runner.

The race bib must be worn in order to use the refreshment area.

In the Pradollano finish area, all participants will have an area equipped with hot food, medical service, etc…

Art.9 EXIT

The race will have a single starting box so that all participants will start at the same time.

The first kilometres of the urban section will be neutralised and the motorbikes will not be allowed to overtake at any time with the red flag of the Guardia Civil de Tráfico.

Art.10 SAFETY CAPSULE

The test runs in closed traffic as the safety capsule marked by the GC of Traffic passes through.

The safety capsule is 3 km wide from the head of the race and is marked by the red flag at the head and the green flag at the tail.

Any competitor who is overtaken by the green flag will be out of the safety capsule and will therefore run in open traffic, and must respect all the traffic rules under his responsibility.

After the green flag, there will be a vehicle from the organisation informing all participants who are overtaken by the green flag that, from that moment, traffic is open and that they have to circulate with the necessary caution and respecting the traffic rules.

Participants who remain outside the safety capsule will have their bib number marked with a sticker for their distinction. This sticker will be provided at the next nearest refreshment post after being overtaken by the green flag.

Art.11 APPROVED VEHICLES

The only vehicles allowed to follow the race will be those accredited by the Organisation. It is strictly forbidden to follow the runners in any type of motor vehicle or vehicle on wheels (skates, bicycles, etc…), and the Local Police will be expressly ordered to remove them from the circuit. A broom vehicle will be available at the tail end of the race to pick up runners who for any reason do not wish or are unable to follow the race. Runners who are not in a position to keep to the scheduled closing time for the control of the activity, following instructions from any member of the organisation, must get into the vehicle or abandon the race.

Art.12 GUARDIANSHIP SERVICE

The organisers will provide a cloakroom service at the start area where participants can leave their belongings.

The staff of the Organisation’s cloakroom service may ask runners to open their bags before dropping them off, in order to supervise the contents of the bags. If a runner refuses to open a bag, the Organisation may refuse to collect the bag.

The organisation is not responsible for the materials inside the bag, nor for their loss or breakage.

Art.13 MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND EMERGENCIES

Throughout the race there will be several medical and security teams that will be coordinated with 112 by the organisation of the Costa del Sol Gran Fondo.

These teams will be distributed among the different refreshment posts and the runner will be able to request their help or assistance if needed.

Random or general medical checks may be carried out at certain points. Refusal to carry out a check-up or disrespect to the doctor or assistant who requests it will result in the immediate invalidation of the race bib.

All riders shall submit to the doctor’s judgement whenever requested to do so by the doctor, the assessment of the medical team taking precedence over any other assessment, whereby the doctors may:

  • Eliminate from the race (by cancelling the race bib) any runner who is deemed unfit to continue.
  • Order the evacuation of any runner they consider to be in danger.
  • Order the hospitalisation of any rider when this is deemed necessary.

Art.14 ABANDONMENTS

Abandonments must be made at the Control Points. If, due to accident or injury, the runner is immobilised and cannot reach a checkpoint, he/she will activate the rescue operation by contacting the organisation by telephone using the emergency mobile phone number indicated on the race bib.

Once at the refreshment post, the runner shall inform the person in charge of the refreshment post that he/she wishes to abandon the race so that he/she can cancel the race bib and identify him/her as having withdrawn.v

It should be noted that only at the refreshment posts, indicated as points with RETURN CONTROL, will there be means of transport to evacuate runners who abandon the race.

In the event that the withdrawn runner chooses to return by his own means, he must also inform the person in charge of the refreshment post of his abandonment so that he can cancel his bib and identify him as withdrawn, otherwise the Organisation will consider him as lost and will activate the rescue alarm.

Art.15 CHANGE OF THE ROUTE OR SUSPENSION OF THE RACE

In the event of bad weather conditions or force majeure, the organisers reserve the right to suspend, neutralise or modify the time slots and/or the route of the race.

In the event of cancellation of the race due to force majeure and more than 7 days before the start date, a partial refund of the registration fee will be made according to the date of the cancellation and therefore of the costs already incurred.

In the event that such cancellation occurs during the 7 days prior to the start of the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO and for reasons beyond the control of the Organization, or in case of suspension of the race once the start has taken place, no refund will be considered.

Art.16 PENALTIES AND DISQUALIFICATIONS

Strictly speaking, penalties will be applied to those participants who:

– Do not respect the highway code.

– Do not respect the security instructions given by the police and the organisers.

– Do not pass through the starting checkpoint and other checkpoints along the route.

– Dirty or degrade the itinerary by littering.

– Have their own support vehicle, hindering the progress of the rest.

– Behavior that impedes the normal development of the race and that goes against the present regulations.

Members of law enforcement and the Organization will take note of those who engage in any of the behaviors listed above.

The organization acquires the commitment before the rest of the participants and the authorities to sanction them in an effective manner.

The penalty will be:

  • Disqualification from the test.

  • Inclusion in lists of sanctioned participants, for subsequent publication. disqualification from the race.

  • Prohibition to participate in other editions of the race.

  • Sanctions imposed by the authorities, to which he/she may be entitled due to his/her attitude.

Art.17 CATEGORIES, CLASSIFICATIONS AND TROPHIES

There will be no categories, however there will be a census of participants who have completed the race by sex and age of the participant (List of finishers).

Finisher Medal will be awarded to all participants who cross the finish line in the established time.

Art.18 CLAIMS

Any participant of the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO who wants to make a claim to the Race Organization, must submit a deposit of 60 € which will only be returned in the event that the claim is favorable to the claimant.

Each claim will be studied and resolved by the competition jury, which will be formed by:

  • A referee

  • The sports director

  • A representative of the Organization

  • The person in charge of the chrono (if necessary)

  • A representative of the athletes

No appeal may be lodged against the decision of the competition jury.

Art.19 EXEMPTION FROM LIABILITY

The organization declines any responsibility in the deterioration, loss, theft or destruction of material of the participants during the celebration of the race.

In case of abandonment by the participant, the organization is not responsible for any damage that the bicycle may suffer during the transfer to the established cut-off point, the participant supervising the fastening to the broom vehicle by the operators.

The organization is not responsible for any accident that could be the cause or victim of the participant, which must be covered by the insurance of the license itself. In case of not having a license, all participants must process the day license provided by the Andalusian Cycling Federation.

In the event of an accident, call the emergency telephone number on the front panel. It is not possible to go to a health center or hospital without previous communication unless it is a case of maximum urgency.

Art.20 IMAGE RIGHTS

The acceptance of these regulations implies that the participant authorizes TerraIncognita Global SL to take photographs and film his participation in any of the modalities of the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO, and gives his consent for the dissemination, commercial and advertising exploitation of all images taken during the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO, TerraIncognita Global SL reserves the exclusive right to the image of the COSTA DEL SOL GRAN FONDO, as well as the audiovisual, photographic and journalistic exploitation of the competition. Any media or advertising project must first have the express written consent of the organization. Otherwise, any legal action deemed appropriate will be taken.

Art.21 DATA PROTECTION

In compliance with the provisions of the Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and guarantee of digital rights, we inform participants that their personal data will become part of a file called “Participants Sports Events”, owned by the entity TerraIncognita Global SL in order to manage the organization, implementation and dissemination of sporting events, the publication of the rankings, as well as the safety of its participants. The recipients of these data are the entity itself. The participant is responsible for the veracity and correctness of the data provided and has the right to exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition of their data within the scope recognized by Law 15/99 of 13 December.
