The gentle hills and mountain ranges that slope down to the Mediterranean Sea, bathed by the southern light and caressed by the sea breeze, form the unmistakable landscape of the Costa del Sol. A territory where the sun shines more than 300 days a year and where nature, culture and leisure combine to offer an unforgettable experience.
Beyond its extensive beaches and lively tourist destinations such as Marbella, Estepona and Torremolinos, the Costa del Sol holds a treasure inside: a group of white villages that seem to be suspended between mountains, in the heart of the Sierra Bermeja and the Valle del Genal. Places like Algatocín, Gaucín, Genalguacil, Benarrabá, Jubrique and Igualeja preserve intact the flavour of the most authentic Andalusia, among centuries-old chestnut trees, narrow streets and natural viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean and the Pinsapar pine forest.
These villages, many of them set within unique natural landscapes, such as the Sierra Bermeja itself, offer hiking trails, local crafts, traditional gastronomy and a peace that is hard to find in other parts of the south. Guadalhorce, Guaro and Tolox, on the transition to the Sierra de las Nieves, complete this network of small paradises where time seems to stand still.
The Costa del Sol is also culture, history and modernity. Malaga, birthplace of Picasso, surprises with its urban life, museums, gastronomy and vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere. But it is the combination of coast and inland that is the true charm of this destination.
