The event consolidates the Costa del Sol as a benchmark of
cycle tourism and shows the commitment of the territory with the sport and the
sustainability.
Estepona, October 18, 2025 – The Costa del Sol Gran Fondo has celebrated today with great success
its first edition, bringing together hundreds of cyclists who from early in the morning
have traveled through some of the most spectacular landscapes of southern Spain.
The day began at 8:00 am with the neutralized start from the center of Estepona,
accompanied by the mayor, José María García Urbano, who welcomed the
participants and highlighted the value of the event for the promotion of sports and tourism in the municipality.
The peloton enjoyed an urban section through the streets of the city before tackling the demanding
route through the Costa del Sol, Sierra Bermeja and the Genal Valley, with a timed finish at the mythical
Alto de Peñas Blancas.
The route has been a real showcase of the territory: mountain roads, white villages
and landscapes that combine the harshness of the slope with the beauty of the environment. The
involvement of the municipalities and the support of the neighbors has been key to the development of this first edition
, consolidating the spirit of community and hospitality that characterizes the Costa
del Sol.
It is worth mentioning the excellent coordination work that has allowed the good development of the
test, with the involvement of the municipalities of Casares, Gaucín, Cortes de la Frontera, Jimera de
Líbar, Benadalid, Algatocín, Genalguacil and, of course, Estepona. Also, it has been
fundamental collaboration of the Civil Guard Traffic, Civil Protection, Local Police, our link bikes Green Knights and numerous volunteers, whose joint work has ensured the safety and fluidity of the event along the entire route
